Beautiful Season

Hi there!

Did you think I'd got lost? Now that I've returned to the UK after a wonderful holiday in La Gomera ... this cold weather is certainly shock to the system! But at least it puts me in the mood for getting down and making some Christmas cards and what a lovely set the Beautiful Season is? I just love it. I've decided to keep it really simple, and have just stamped out the bird & holly motif in Basic Black, colouring only the berries in Cherry Cobbler. This makes for a really quick and easy make and I'll probably be using this easy design for quite a lot of my cards.

Hi ... today I'm using the lovely "Nature Walk" stamp set combined with Crumb Cake, Old Olive & More Mustard cardstock. Now that it's getting Autumnal, I thought I'd reflect this in today's card. I'm using up some of my ribbon from the old catalogue (sorry for those of you who want to repicate this!) but there's some even nicer ribbon in the new catty ... do have a look at pages 106-107 for the fantastic new range!

Today I've matched up the lovely Nature Walk stamp set with Baja Breeze cardstock ... a lovely combination. I used my Stampin' Pastels to colour in the flower, butterfly and bee and used the Newsprint DP inside the card. After using the scallop border punch on the DP, I then crimped the paper. I know you probably can't tell it's been crimped ... but I assure you it has!Well, it wont be long now until the new catalogue is out and I just can't wait to see all those lovely new Stampin' Up! goodies. Friendly Words for a friend ...

Hi

In-Colour Paper Stack creation number 2! For this birthday card I've used the lovely Peach Parfait DP together with the "Friendly Words" jumbo wheel and "Cute by the Inch" (Hostess Level 2) stamp set.

I think you could call this card "shabby chic" as I've given it a "torn up" effect - on purpose I assure you - just in case you were thinking my guillotine was a bit blunt!

I didn't know what I was going to do with his card to start with - but think it turned out OK! Does that sometimes happen to you? You just add bits here and there with no particular idea in mind - and hey presto - it turns out better than you'd expected!

Hi Everyone

Here's the little thank you cards I promised. Aren't they just so cute? I've used the "Cute by the Inch" stamp set (Hostess Level 2) together with three of the SU In Colours - Peach Parfait, Pear Pizzaz and Blushing Bride.

The gorgeous matching DP is from the In Colours Paper Stack - 40 lovely coordinating sheets. I just love the way everything from SU matches so perfectly - which takes all the guesswork out of you cardmaking!

Workshop mania ...

Hi Everyone

Sorry it's been so long since my last blog entry - but as most of you know, my father-in-law died a couple of weeks ago following a long and at times distressing time in hospital. He was a great father, father-in-law, grandfather and great-grandfather and we shall all miss his sense of fun and quirky ways dearly. After a great deal of suffering, borne bravely and uncomplainingly, it's with a sense of relief that he is now at peace. Thanks to all for your messages of support and sympathy at this very sad time.

Onwards and forwards as they say and so for some light relief from the past few weeks, it was great fun to hold a workshop a couple of days ago at the lovely Emma's house. Emma has only just had a 2nd edition to the family - the beautiful Erin, who is just 3 weeks old.

Despite the demands of a new baby, Emma made us all feel welcome and everyone enjoyed themselves - as can be seen by the chaotic look of the crafting table! (I'm the one sat at the far end ... do I look in control?)

To greet everyone, the table was set with little gift packs containing everything they'd need for their "make'n'take", together with a Stampin' Up! Recipe Card!

As a little hostess gift for Emma, I made this cute little pouch (and tucked a delightful baby stamp inside!) Much appreciated by Emma as she's just in the process of setting up a new venture "Well Woman ~ Well Wishes" (http://www.wellwomanwellwishes.blogspot.com/), so this cute little gift pouch just fits the bill and hopefully will give her some inspiration for her gift packs!

For my main event, I used the gorgeous "Strength and Hope" stamp set.

I can't get enough of this stamp set - it's so beautiful. The resultant efforts by the girls reflected their imaginative and individual skills! I was particularly impressed by Rowan's effort - I'm not sure whether she was inspired to go to greater lengths - but her finished card was worthy of commendation! Huge thanks also Rowan, for helping me clean all those stamps! (Rowan is shown above on the RH side showing off her fantastic creation!)

As you realised from my previous blogs, my hubby is a keen beekeeper so I didn't have any trouble in making his birthday card ... with the Nature Walk stamp set combined with the Botanical Gazette Designer Paper ... what more could a beekeeper want?

We're (almost) knee-deep in honey still, though the only interactive part I play is in the quality control department ... of course this proves quite a challenge, especially as I'm diabetic ... so I have to have strict control ... of course!?!

Because I Care

Hi everyone

What a lovely day it is here in Yorkshire today! A bit of a change from the miserable Bank Holiday. My hubby usually grumbles like mad when the Bank Holiday bad weather sets in ... but this weekend there were no grumbles at all as he retires at the end of the week so bad weekends hopefully wont put him in the grumpy corner !!!

Today's card is a condolence card using the lovely "Because I Care" stamp set. I think it's always rather difficult to make these cards but the sentiment on the "Because I Care" stamp set seemed just right! I've teamed this up with the Springtime Vintage Designer Series Paper in Baja Breeze and then stamped the tiny flower stamp on the Crumb Cake cardstock in Whisper White craft ink.

Hi Everyone
Here's a pretty card that I've just made for a lovely friend of mine ... she'll be celebrating her 75th birthday soon but this isn't a birthday card - just a little note to accept her invitation to join her for a celebratory meal!?!
Can't wait!?!
I've used the bird from the lovely Punch Potpourri set together with the French Foliage stamps for the background.
As I don't have any square envelopes I have to make my own --- so I used the Love Letter Designer Paper to match the card!

Fun Facts About Bees & Honey ...

It's that time of the year when our household is all a buzz frantically spinning all our honey from our bees ... little time left to get any crafting done (tho' the lovely stamp set Nature Walk came in handy for the leaflets!?!)

So, for a little break from card making, here's 10 fun and interesting facts that you may (or may not) know about bees ...
1. Honeybees have five eyes.
2. A cave painting depicting an androgynous figure robbing honey out of the hive was found in the Cave of the Spider in Valencia, Spain. It is estimated to be 15,000 years old.
3. Honey stored in airtight containers never spoils. Sealed honey vats found in King Tut's tomb still contained edible honey, despite over 2,000 years beneath the sands.
4. A queen is the largest bee in the hive. She can lay up to 2,000 eggs per day, twice her own body weight.
5. Drones have no stinger. They do no real work. Their only purpose is to mate with virgin queens.
6. Bees must visit approximately 2 million flowers to make 1 lb of honey.
7. Bees have to fly over 55,000 miles to make 1 lb of honey.
8. On average a worker bee with make 1/12th teaspoon of honey in her lifetime.
9. Two tablespoons of honey would fuel a honeybee flying once around the world.
10. Honeybees will visit between 50-100 flowers during one nectar collection trip.

French Foliage with a vintage feel

Hi Everyone

If there's one stamp set you really should treat yourself to this year, it has to be the French Foliage (p15 of the mini catalogue) ... I know some of you have overlooked this set and not given it a second look --- but it's such a lovely set, especially for giving your cards a vintage look!

For today's card I've used Certainly Celery, Rose Red & Whisper White - a delightful colour combination don't you think? I've also used some DP from the Botanical Gazette series in Old Olive --- can you spot where it is?

Nature Walk ...

Hi Everyone
Today's card is a birthday card I've made for my neice Claire. Hopefully she wont visit my blog until after she's received her card! Anyway, if you do visit my blog Claire - happy birthday for Saturday and hope you, Nick & Bramble have a lovely day!

I've been using two of the new stamp sets from the Mini Catalogue for this card - Nature Walk and Four Frames. First of all I stamped some of the images from the Nature Walk stamp set in Almost Navy & Chocolate Chip (stamping a couple of times on scrap paper first so that the images would be quite faint). I then masked off certain areas with sticky notes and sponged the rest with Almost Navy. Of course I had to use my crimper again for the centre strip and finished off with some linen thread.

For the inside of the card, I've stamped the butterfly on Whisper White cardstock, again in Almost Navy, punched out the corners using the Boho Blossoms punch and added a jewel to each corner. Voila!

Today's card is a special card I've made for a forthcoming Charity Event. A client of mine (and lovely friend) is having an Open House later in the year in aid of the Macmillan Nurses Appeal and has asked me to be the star event! No pressure there then!?

Three by three by three ...

So why the title? Well for this card I've used 3 colours, 3 punches and 3 brads ... isn't it a lovely card? I originally saw a similar card on a US Stampin' Up! blog, and liked it so much that I had to copy it. The only thing I've changed for my version is the crimped background ... well just had to try out my new crimper! I love it! So watch out, probably every card I do now will be crimped somewhere or other ...

The only thing that isn't Stampin' Up! is the ribbon ... I had some ribbon left over after wrapping my friend's present, and as it matched so well, couldn't resist using it for this card. Perfect!

Organising stamp sets ...

For those of you who don't know, my home may be small on space but it's big on personality and warmth! But a small home also has its challenges. Everything must have a spot to be put away or that calm, warm feeling turns into chaos. Having a "put-away" spot for everything is a task easier said than done! Thank goodness I am an organised person by nature, so when it comes to my Stampin' Up! supplies that organisation comes naturally, except when working on a project, but that's another thing altogether ...

It seems the trend these days is to show off your "stampin' room" however, I don't have the luxury of a dedicated "stampin' room" - how i envy all those who have an all dancing all singing dedicated stampin room where everything's on show to delight and bedazzle even the most organised of crafters (and I've seen some particularly spectacular ones I can gell you ...)

I do most of my stampin' in my kitchen where I've taken over a small but not insubstantial area which has a fine view over our lovely garden and, of course, where tea/coffee & the odd biccy is always close to hand! So, though space is limited, I'll take you on a quick tour ...

Here is a picture of my crafting area when everything's put away and the only way you'd guess it doubles as a workspace would be my laptop!

So let's have a sneek peek into my cupboard I use to store some of my Stampin' Up! cardstock, DP, ribbons, inkpads and other bits & pieces. You must agree, just one look inside shows how organised I am - after all, no-one wants to look at a mess! I've got all my business files at the top of the cupboard (again, all neatly filed in alphabetical order). However, all my stamp sets/punches etc are stored in a separate cupboard and that's what I'm going to share with you today - how I set up my stamp set filing system!

I'm always looking for ways to better organise myself in my craft space. While I've seen some really super products and great systems alike, the key to any great system is that it works for you. My way of organising may not be your way, but finding what works for you should definitely be intuitive and, of course, it's always nice if it's inexpensive at the same time!

There are many stores dedicated to nothing but helping you better organise your life in general and your craft space in specific. There's buckets, baskets, bins, etc but because of my limited space, I needed to invest some time in actually categorising and organising, so I created my own stamp inventory for all my stamps.

This system isn't revolutionary, but it works for me and just maybe it may work for you. I've seen several people share their way of organising their stamps on their blogs, and while my idea isn't anything new, I think that my take on it may ultimately help you.

The good news is that once you spend time getting this task done, it's easy to maintain and to grow as your collection grows, and you can easily find what you need.

1: Gather your supplies

In this case I have my stamps, my Stampin' Up! catalogue and some round stickers.

2: Set up your inventory system

My system is very simple: I use an A4 binder which I've already organised alphabetically and decorated using some of the new Botanical Gazette DP. (Doesn't that look lovely?) My motto is that if it has to be on show, then it has to look good!

Now, if you don't have a spare catalogue or you'd rather not pull out pages from it, then you can copy the page and use that. Or, if you have any sets that have yet to be mounted, you can scan/copy the page of labels and use that. Of course, making a scan or a copy of the actual stamp works too.

By the way, other than organising them alphabetically, there was no rhyme or reason to my madness. As you grow your collection, you could organise the pages by year or by the categories in the Stampin' Up! catalogue. You decide.

3: Organise your stamps - your way

In my case I already had a couple of plastic containers. You may not keep your stamps in containers and just stack them on shelves. If that's the case, you can skip this step )or just assign a different colour sticker for every stamp set you have.) But keeping them in plastic containers just maks it easy for me to get my hands on the ones I want when I want. However, I had no big decision to make as to which stamp sets went into which container; I simply fit in as many as I could!

4: Assign your stickers

This is where you start to number your collection to correspond with your index folder.

5: Match up your assigned sticker to the location of the stamp set in your personal catalogue

Here's a page from my Index showing the Baroque stamp set. I keep the stamp set in Box No 1 and using one of my stickers, have given it the number 4. So while I can always just go into my containers and peruse my stamp collection, it will be much easier to go through my inventory, figure out which set I want then grab the corresponding container.

I hope this gives you the incentive to get your stamp sets organised. Of course, if you have the clear mounts all you need to do is line them up alphabetically, but you can still set up a reference binder to aid you when you are designing your projects.

French Foliage goes vintage ...

Hi everyone ... Another card today using the French Foliage Stamp Set from the new Mini Catalogue. I'm loving this stamp set and the effects you can get. Just look at that gorgeous inkspot ... doesn't it remind you of when you used to shake your pen in school and Oh my goodness what a mess you ended up with in your exercise book .... ??? Have you noticed the shaded background? I just used a piece of sponge and dabbed it carefully on the inkpad, then went round the inkpad on all four edges of the sponge to give it the framed effect! Pretty cool yes! I have seen it done with the new acrylic blocks for the clear stamp sets, but I'm a tad old-fashioned and still love the feel of the wooden ones, so don't have any acrylics! Hi Everyone

Not long now before the new Mini Catalogue is launched (tomorrow!!!) so before you all start getting excited, I'm just showing you the Mother's Day card I've rushed to make today (am I the only one who leaves it until the last minute?) I made two identical cards, one for my mum and another for mum-in-law, but have to post my mum's as she lives away so need to make sure I get it in the post tomorrow at the latest!

I got the original idea for this card from my lovely upline, Michelle Last, but then had to change a couple of things as I didn't have the same stamp set and I wanted to make a large card, so used some non-SU cardstock for the main part. It's got a bit of a sparkle to it but isn't far off from Crumb Cake in colour. I also substituted the Growing Green stamp set but I'm quite pleased at how it turned out. Don't forget to come back and visit my blog in the next couple of days as I'll be showing just a few ideas from the lovely new stamp sets that are featured in the new Mini ...

Hi there!

Sorry, but I haven't got a card to post on my blog today. I've got quite a lot of work on for my desktop publishing business, so need to get my head down and stay disciplined ... if that's possible! However, one of my jobs was to design some party invites so I thought I'd just get out one of my SU compliment slips and wrap them up with some linen thread & some of those delightful tiny tags! Perfect ... just finishes off the job nicely!

Now I really must get my head down and get some serious work done. I've got my mum to stay at the beginning of next week and that usually means I don't get any work done OR any stampin! So I probably wont be posting again for a few days!

Just Believe

Hi Everyone,

Today I'm showing you the swaps I made for Michelle Last's "Stamp with me Reward Day". For all her downline who have promoted to the next level, Michelle kindly invited us to a fun day of stamping today (Sunday). Unfortunately, due to family commitments, I wasn't able to attend, but did join in the swaps ... I've used the lovely Just Believe stamp set, tried a little distressing on the scallop flowers & Newsprint DP which I think gives it a shabby chic look! I'm quite pleased with how they turned out.
For the vintage flower:
1. Punch out 3 scallop circles in Newsprint DP, distress with Stampin' Up! ink & used the sponge daubers (love these) to accent the edges.
2. Scrunch into a tight ball, then carefully unfold.
3. Punch out 1" circle in Newsprint DP then layer scallop circles with 1" circle on top and secure with Jumbo Eyelet.

For those ladies who received my swaps at Michelle's stampin' day don't forget to carefully separate the scallop layers on the flower, pulling forward for added dimension (obviously they had to lay flat in the post)!

Just Believe Emboss Resist

Hi Everyone ... I've been a little bit naughty this afternoon! I had a couple of clients call this morning to discuss various design projects they want me to do for them as part of my desktop publishing business. One of them (fortunately) involves a little of my Stampin' Up! skills and so I took the opportunity to grab a few SU bits & pieces and try out a few ideas!

Why can't I be a bit more focussed? Did I follow the brief I had been set? Of course I didn't ... I started to play with my stamps instead (much more fun!) and came up with this card. I started by using the emboss resist technique using the En Francais stamp (love it!) and then stamped the large motif from the Just Believe set (love this too!) and just kept adding to it until I was happy with it. What do you think?

Oh, well ... Friday isn't such a good day for business in any case ... we all feel like winding down (even those of us who run our business from home!) ... anyway there's always Monday!

Earlier on in the week I made some swaps for Michelle's "Stamp with me Reward Day" on Sunday. Unfortunately I wont be able to join in the fun, but will show you my swaps after the weekend (so as not to spoil it for those attending!)

Every Moment ...

Hi everyone

I had to stay in today for the insurance assessor to call. The gales last Monday caused devastation here and our carport ended up on the roof! Can you believe this? There was such a clattering and banging inside I wondered what was going on. Little did I realise until I went outside and saw the damage just what all the racket was about! OMG there was debris flying all over the place! The carport actually has brick piers so that wind must have been mighty strong! Suffice to say ... the neighbours thought we'd started our loft extension already!?! Never missing a golden opportunity, I thought I'd make the best use of having to stay in and get out my stampin' stuff! I've used the single flower from the Every Moment stamp set for this card and coloured this using Stampin' Up's blender pens and inks. The blender pens are fantastic as you can graduate the colours beautifully. The sentiment is from the Curly Cute stamp set and of course no card of mine would be complete without some linen thread! Hope you like?

Hi everyone ... it's never too early for love and come February 14th (Valentine's Day) chocolate, flowers and candy hearts will abound. So I got out my lovely large heart punch in time to make a special Valentine's card for that special person in my life ... and of course some lovely biccie heart treats (you might just be able to see them peeking through the punched out heart on the gift box!

I love these little gift boxes and they're just the right size for a special little treat! I shall be tucking this into my Valentine's lunch box on Monday for a special surprise!?!

Hi Everyone

Just a quick posting today to show you the little gift box I've made for my friend's birthday tomorrow ... I wont give the secret away and tell you what's inside ... all I can say is it's quite sparkly!?!

I used Cute by the Inch stamp set (Hostess Level 2) together with the Tiny Tags stamp set. I've already shown details of the card in an earlier post! Have you spotted the deliberate mistake? The ribbon is the same on both card and gift box, only the ribbon on the card has been reversed so you can't see the polka dots! I'm a little bit annoyed at myself for doing that ...

Hi Everyone

Today I'm using the lovely "Because I Care" Hostess Level 1 stamp and the emboss resist technique. I started by stamping the large flower with Versamark ink. then sprinkled with Stampin' Emboss powder (white) before heating with a heat gun (heat embossing technique). Once this had dried, I used my daubers with the Stampin' Pastels to go over the stamped image. It's a long time since I've used my Stampin' Pastels and I'd almost forgotten how versatile they are! It's a lovely simple card but very effective and would make a perfect sympathy card.

Hi everyone

Today's the first day this week when I haven't got anything planned so I thought I'd get out my craft bits & pieces and see what I came up with. I just grabbed the two-step bird punch, the Vintage Vogue stamp set & some lovely DP (Elegant Soiree - wouldn't you just know it!) and settled down for an afternoon crafting. Unfortunately, I don't have the luxury of having a dedicated craft room, so it's a bit of a faff having to keep going into my cupboards for all my bits & pieces (and even more of a faff putting it all back again)!

Anyway, I'm quite pleased today with my card once I'd finished it. In fact, I'm beginning to think it could do for either sex (male cards are always difficult I think) ... maybe it's the colours that make it suitable (although I don't know quite how the sparkling bits will be accepted)!

Hi everyone ... sorry I didn't manage to post my blog showing all my completed Christmas cards earlier - so here they all are at long last ready for their envelopes and posting out! Whew! At least that's one job less to do before the festivities!

Hope you're all managing to keep nice & warm with all this really cold weather we're having. I managed to defrost my car yesterday and make a (rather late for me) start for Christmas shopping. Although it was still bitterly cold with temperatures barely reaching more than -10 degrees, when the sun came out it was a magical scene with all the trees covered in ice!

I had a good morning shoppping as the shops were so quiet (I think everyone has decided to stay at home) then stopped off at my favourite sandwich shop (Pret-a-Manger) for a bite to eat before returning back home laden up with shopping ... well at least I've made a start!

Hi everyone ...

Just look at these wonderful cupcakes my daughter-in-law made for my birthday yesterday! Don't they look so delicious? And the good news is that I got TWO boxes full of these delectable creations (which is just as well as they were handed to me by my grandson Logan who just happend to tell me that cupcakes are his favourite!

Then he gave me this card that he'd hand-stamped ... guess I've got some competition there so I had better watch out! My birthday present was just as impressively wrapped with matching paper!

And here's a picture of Logan and his baby brother Luke having 40 winks after birthday lunch! (Well Luke's having 40 winks ... though I don't know what Logan's planning .....)

What a wonderful day I had with all my family! I love them all to bits and am so lucky.

Hi everyone ...

I couldn't have asked for a more festive feel to make a start on my Christmas cards ... with almost 10" snowfall last night - it really is a winter wonderland outside. So, sitting here in my nice warm cosy home, I gathered all my crafting stuff together, put on some nice Christmassy music and set off on my (rather mammoth) task of stampin' over 70 Christmas cards!

Hi everyone. Today I went to visit a friend and after we'd had a good chat over a coffee and (tut, tut, naughty, naughty) the most delicious Raspberry Muffin, we then set off to look round the local craft shop. Look at this lovely hanging frame I found ... just had to buy it as it matched the baby card I've just made for my neice's first little baby girl that was born a couple of days ago! What a good match - just look at that pram!

Injury stops play .....

Hi everyone

Sorry to say, but I can't continue my 12 Joys of Christmas as I'm having quite a lot of difficulty crafting at the moment! Early in May I had a nasty fall and thought I'd just sprained my wrist, but this has gradually been causing me more and more pain that I had to have some x-rays a couple of weeks ago when they found out that I may have fractured a couple of bones way back in May and obviously because this hadn't been x-rayed immediately, the bones had now fused together with the resultant deterioration in the use of my left hand. So I'm now waiting to have an x-ray guided injection to the STT joint on my left wrist which, hopefully, will make things easier for a while (though I am to have a local anaesthetic where they'll freeze my arm from elbow down - so that sounds a bit drastic just for an injection if you ask me!?!) However, they have advised that this may not be successful, and may only give me temporary relief, in which case it could be a splint and plaster job after that which could then disable me for much much longer ... though I'm sure I wont be able to keep away from my crafting, so you'll just have to put up with one-handed cards!

Meantime, I've been advised to rest my hand until my treatment, which I'm hoping wont be too long as I've still lots of cards and bits and pieces to craft for Christmas.

So despite this slight setback, it's still "business as usual" and I still look forward to receiving all your orders leading up to the busy Christmas period. Don't forget to take advantage of the FREE p&p vouchers I enclosed with your catalogue!

Hopefully normal service will resume as soon as possible!

Let's get organised ... and where better to start than a Christmas Planner. I just love this gorgeous Christmas Planner. I first saw this idea at http://www.feeling-crafty.blogspot.com/ and knew I had to make one. Isn't it just so cute? It is passport size and so handy that it will easily fit into your handbag (or even pocket for that matter), so you never need be without a reminder ...

Inside you'll find pockets for your Gift List, STOCKING STUFFERS, Menus & Shopping Lists, together with two little pockets with flaps in the centre of the planner so that you can store all those receipts ... of course you could easily adapt this planner to suit your particular requirements and you could easily insert more pockets if required. The pockets are made using SU envelopes which are cut in half and the top flaps removed (except for the inside secret pockets).

How many of you have struggled when it comes to men's cards? No doubt quite a lot of you. I've used Jackpot DP for these two cards and although this DP wont be available any more after 30th September, the new Newsprint DP out on 1st October is a lovely alternative and will work just as well. I have quite a few birthdays at the beginning of October, so I'm trying to use up some of the DP that will no longer be available. Look out for some more designs in the next few days as I try and get all my birthday cards completed before my huge delivery from the new catalogue arrives ..... ahhhhhhhh!

Hi Everyone,

Here's three really simple cards using the new colours Rich Razzleberry, Soft Suede & Melon Mambo. They're so easy to do and ideal when you want to make a quickie birthday card. All you need are 6 DP squares of your choice punched out using the scallop square punch, some matching polka dot ribbon and a vintage label using the scallop circle punch. Easy peasy!

Hi again ... said there might be another card today! As I'd stamped two hearts with the Simply Said stamp set (simply divine if you ask me!) thought I might as well carry on making another card. This time I've used the Flower Fantasy Window Sheet in the aperture from the Cottage Wall collection of Designer Papers. I love this designer paper and need to order some more as it's limited availability until stocks last and I only ordered a sample pack of 6" x 6" papers - so they definitely wont last very long!

Couldn't resist the three little hearts to finish off the card (you've probably noticed that I like the number three and the theme seems to run through a lot of my cards!)

Hi everyone

So sorry it's been quite a while since I last posted on my blog but unfortunately I had a fall just before the Bank Holiday weekend and I've been having problems with my left hand/wrist since then ... thus no blogging! However, I couldn't resist giving my card making a jump start again today after a couple of week's rest as I got two deliveries ... one from Stampin' Up! and a lovely sample pack of the three new inks and DP from my upline Michelle. They are such fantastic new colours.

For my first two cards I've used Rich Razzleberry with the Designer Paper Cottage Wall. I love these so much that I can't wait to try some more tomorrow!

Pink Ladies Mini Catalogue Swap

Hi everyone,

Here's the card I designed for the mini catalogue launch swap with the Pink Ladies. I chose to use the Tiny Tags stamp set together with the Jewelry Tag punch.

As I don't have a vast stock of SU designer paper (tons of others!) I decided to create a patchwork effect which meant I could use some 6" x 6" samples cut into 1" squares ... I only needed 3 sheets which was great and I was quite pleased how they turned out (even though punching out all those mini tags took some time)!

Here's all 15 of them on my windowsill (notice all the greenery outside the window - such a change from the long dreary winter we've had to endure). Enjoy the good weather and thanks for popping by!

Well, as it's now officially Spring I thought I'd add a bit of sunshine to my blog (actually the pic was taken last November when I was in South Africa ... which is why I look so happy (and healthy!) How cute are these bookmarks? Aren't they super! They're so quick and easy to make that you might as well make half a dozen while your at it! So, let's get started on how to make the bookmark shall we? First of all, here's the supplies you'll need:

Stamp Sets: A Beautiful Thing, Vintage Labels, Whimsical words, Tiny Tags

Cardstock: Whisper White, Close to Cocoa, Pretty in Pink

Classic Ink: Chocolate Chip

Punches: Scallop Circle punch, 1" Circle punch, Corner rounder

Vintage Brads, Snail adhesive, Paper Piercing Tool & White Gel Pen

(All supplies can be ordered from me)

And this is what they look like:

1. Stamp motif using Vintage Labels onto white card stock, and A Beautiful Thing on pink card stock. Punch out using Scallop Circle punch for white card, and 1" circle punch for pink card. Use snail adhesive to adhere together.

2. Using Scallop Punch, take Close to Cocoa cardstock (1.1/2" x required length) and feed carefully into punch as shown to make half scallop edge for top of bookmark.

3. Attach scallop circle to bookmark, matching the scallops, using the paper piercing tool to make a hole through all layers and add a vintage brad.

4. Use corner rounder to bottom of bookmark and then stamp sentiment where required and finish off with dashed lines using the white gel pen.

Your finished bookmark! How super is that!

Mothers Day

Hi everyone!

Here's the card I made for Mother's Day on Sunday. I expect you've spotted that I've used my fave stampin' sets - Medallion and Greenhouse Garden! All the supplies are Stampin' Up! except for the tiny gems on the flowers which are clear crystal stickers from the Elements range.

I'll be reporting back in my next blog about the wonderful time I had at the SU Regional Training Day in Sheffield on Thursday together with posting pics of some of the wonderful swaps I received.

Meantime, if there's one thing we all did learn at the training day, it was that you no longer need to feel guilty about wanting to buy all those fantastic new supplies in the mini catalogue, just tell your husband/partner that you're "stimulating your consumptive behaviour"! Love it!

Card swaps for Sheffield

Hi everyone

Here's the card I've made for the card swap at the training day in Sheffield on Thursday. I've used the Medallion Stamp as that's my favourite. However, I haven't been able to make all 25 card swaps in the same colour as I've had to accommodate the stock I have in at the moment! I'm still waiting for my next delivery from Stampin' Up! which I hoped would have arrived by now. I thought it was taking too much of a chance waiting for my order to arrive before I made the cards, as I didn't want to be stampin' late into the night on Wednesday!?!

Hi everyone. Well, it's Friday again and for those of you stampers who also have 9-5 jobs, you'll be pleased it's the end of the week! Had a crafting day today, trying to get some inspiration ready for when I have to make my first lot of swap cards ready for the regional training in Sheffield in March! I'm not sure how many I'll need at the moment, but I need to make sure I've got enough supplies if I want my production line to run smoothly ... Here's the Valentine Card and Valentine Matchbox I made for my husband. I loved Michelle Last's (my upliner) tutorial that I just had to make one myself. However, as I didn't have the heart punch, I substituted the SU stamp Love You Much. Hope you like! (and thanks Michelle for the inspiration)!

Welcome to my first blog

Hi there! This is my first blog on my new journey into stampin' and I hope you'll find lots and lots of interesting card making ideas, inspiration and perhaps a few more unusual ideas in crafting I have up my sleeve ... so join me on my new adventure!

It's almost a month now since I received my Stampin' Up Starter Kit. What a bargain! There were lots of fantastic goodies and of course I just couldn't wait to start my crafting journey!

The same week I received all my lovely stampin' stuff was the same week my friend retired from work and so that was a great opportunity to get out all my new crafting stuff and start on my stampin' journey! I took my inspiration from the lovely wrapping paper I bought and used SU Baroque Motifs and Fresh Cuts stamp sets. I think they work really well, especially with the matching gift tag!
